What in the world am I doing?

Here I am starting another blogging site. I have a personal blog on Xanga that I have “maintained” since 2006. I am very familiar with blogging and I enjoy writing a lot. It’s easy for me to write about myself, I don’t have to do a whole lot of thinking when I write, the words just seem to flow so easily. I think this blog will be more of a challenge, and I’m looking forward to it.

This blog is going to be dedicated to my hobby of beading. I first became interested in beading after going to a family friend’s house for a “girl’s weekend” where I met Deni who introduced my mom and I to seed beads, square stitch, and we also created little beaded fairies that were Deni’s own design. It was a fun weekend and when I left I knew I was hooked. I had previously dabbled in jewelry making – making simply strung bracelets with glass beads, but seed beads and bead stitch techniques were a completely different thing. That was back in 2004ish. Pretty soon life got in the way and I ended up having all my stuff put into storage and forgetting about it…

So, now I am at a point in my life where I have an abundance of time. I started thinking about jewelry again and remembered that I already had some supplies. Soon I was buying more stuff.. and more stuff. I have a lot of items on hand now so now I have NO EXCUSES why I should not be creating!! I have to convince myself that I am not just a bead collector but an actual beader! This is why I am creating this blog – to hold myself accountable, but to also keep track of the journey I plan to take. I am hoping that this blog will help me keep in touch with my progress and when I feel like I’ve hit a slump, I’ll be able to look back and see how far I’ve come.

That is my hope.
